Wakestock is returning to our area this summer and is adding a second venue.
The wakeboarding competitions and main musical entertainment will still be at Millenium Park in Collingwood — but camping, sports demonstrations and more music will be at the GNE grounds.
The event is put on by SBC Events and Event Manager Todd Elsley says they want to set up two thousand camping sites at the fairgrounds which would mean capacity for four thousand people.
Elsley says there will be private security and an ex-military specialist who is both respected and feared.
Elsley adds there will also be police to handle the crowds and other emergency services there in case of any situations.
As for increased noise bothering people who live in the area, Elsley says the musical entertainment will be inside the GNE buildings and the sound systems used will limit how the noise is carried.
Clearview Township has given a conditional agreement to move forward with the plans for the GNE as long as all by-law and emergency services requirements are met.
Elsley says the headliners this year are Public Enemy including Flava Flav and Ontario group Alexis On Fire.
The event is set for August 6 to 8th.
