The Council of Canadians has congratulated the Simcoe County Corporate Services committee after it passed a motion that calls on Simcoe County Council to revoke the certificate of approval for Site 41.
That motion will be voted on by council on May 25th, and if passed would see Simcoe County Council request that the Ministry of Environment revoke the certificate.
Council of Canadians Chair Maude Barlow says this is the right decision, and adds the certificate of approval must be revoked once and for all.
If it’s not revoked, the land could be used again as a landfill, or for a similar use.
