If your child is missing or you believe the child is missing, it can be the most devastating time of your life.
That’s why you need to take advantage of the Mason Child Identificatioin Program or CHIP.
Port Elgin and Southampton Masonic Lodges will be conducting such a program this weekend.
St. Lawrence Lodge member Doug Fryday says the program will run Saturday and Sunday in the Rotary Room at the Plex in Saugeen Shores from 9 AM to 5 PM both days.
Fryday says no appointment is necessary, parents just need to show up with their children.
He says the child ID kit that will be created includes fingerprints, voice imprint, a digital video, a tooth imprint or cheek swab, along with vital information.
All of it will be put onto a CD and then given back to the parents so they will have pertinent information for authorities should a child go missing..
The Masons do not keep a copy of the material.
Fryday says the service is free and they hope to process over 800 children during the weekend.
Volunteers that take the information have had recent police checks done themselves to assure parents of the process.
Masons from the 12 lodges in the Bruce will be helping Saugeen Shores Lodges to see that the program runs smoothly this weekend.
Fryday says the process shouldn’t take any longer than 20 minutes once your on a computer.
All children are welcome with their parents.
