Environment Canada is installing a weather station at the Owen Sound Billy Bishop Regional Airport.
The station, properly known as a Reference Climate Station, was approved by council Monday night.
Councillor Bill Twaddle says that for the first time, city residents will finally have an exact picture of the weather that is affecting or is expected to affect the Owen Sound area.
Environment Canada has similar stations in Mount Forest and at the Wiarton Airport, but it approached Owen Sound and the city is looking forward to having it.
Twaddle says it’ll benefit not only residents of Owen Sound but also users of the airport and is a nice feature for the facility to have.
Installion will happen sometime this summer.
