The Owen Sound Bluewater ProTeam NorthStars are back on home floor tonight when they host the Guelph Regals in Ontario Junior B Lacrosse.
The NorthStars are smarting after having their perfect record on home floor snapped on Sunday afternoon when they lost 5-4 in overtime to the London Blue Devils.
The loss to the Blue Devils was discouraging on many levels.
First, it snapped the perfect record at home.
Second, Owen Sound was managing the lead well until there was just over 2 minutes to go, but surrendered the tying goal, followed by the overtime game winner on a London power play
And finally, the loss to London is difficult to accept sine the Blue Devils are far from a powerhouse, and the overtime win was just their second in 7 tries.
Tonight, the opportunity to bounce back is squarely in front of Owen Sound as the Regals have yet to win a game and are the first team to essentially fall out of playoff contention.
There are 14 teams in the West Conference, 8 make the playoffs and 13 of those 14 clubs still have a shot.
In the case of Owen Sound, there’s no question that following tonight’s game the matchups become more difficult, so tonight’s game with Guelph becomes a valuable 2 points for Owen Sound to grab.
