The Heart and Stroke Big Bike is starting to wheel around our area.
The ride kicked off in Owen Sound Monday and Area Manager Jason Hoffman says they’re off to a great start, with a full bike, eight teams and over 18 thousand dollars raised.
The 30-person bike is as long as a school bus, and as heavy as a tonne – without anyone even on it.
Hoffman says the funds raised are going to heart and stroke research because heart disease is the number one killer of Canadians.
But he says the other goal with the big bike is to get people active.
Hoffman says the ride is not a race, it’s all about team spirit.
The total goal is to raise 75 thousand dollars.
The Port Elgin ride comes up on May 19th, and Hoffman says there is still time to register your team.
You can also register for rides in Hanover on the 18th, and June 3rd in Kincardine.
