The fundraising committee for the Rotary Accessible playground in Southampton has officially received another chunk of funding.
Representatives from Community Living Owen Sound presented the 10 thousand dollar cheque, putting the committee within reach of their goal.
Doug Johnson Realty also donated one thousand dollars toward the effort.
Saugeen Shores’ Director of Community Services Mike Myatt says they will continue to fundraise for the final 10 thousand dollars to reach their 350 thousand dollar goal.
Myatt gave Rotarians a tour of the park, which recently had concrete pathways laid down.
Myatt says they are about three weeks ahead of schedule for construction, and they are ready for the playground equipment to be installed next.
Myatt says he’s very excited to open the accessible park, which is the first of its kind in Bruce County.
