There was a committee meeting Friday morning for the new Owen Sound Recreation Complex.
Committee Chair Jim McManaman related the meeting was “pool specific” and states he called the meeting at the request of the project architects to examine a variety of areas.
Among the areas of discussion was the tender process and the material to be used in the construction of the Pool which is to be the centrepiece of the Complex.
While McManaman would not elaborate on the actual discussions, it’s believed input was needed on whether the pool should be constructed from concrete or stainless steel.
McManaman says the discussion this morning examined if there could be time saving and cost saving based on the material used to construct the pool.
The meeting was question oriented and McManaman says a number of items need to be clarified and as such, the answers to many questions won’t be available until the committee meets again on Monday.
McManaman stresses that the meeting today was by no means “an emergency” meeting and he also stresses the size of the pool for the Rec Complex is not at issue.
