Owen Sound is not the best place to live in Canada, nor is it the worst according to Moneysense magazine.
In the publications annual survey of Canadian communities, Owen Sound is just about in the middle of the pack this year, coming in at 104 out of 179 communities with a population of over 10 thousand.
Owen Sound is ranked above Lloydminister, Alberta and just behind Belleville, Ontario.
Owen Sound Director of Economic Development and Tourism, Steve Furness says all things considered this is not a bad ranking for the city.
The magazine rated cities based on climate, prosperity, access to healthcare, home affordability, crime rates and lifestyle with subcategories in each area.
Furness says Owen Sound scores very well in just about every category and this ranking helps get out the message that this is a very good place to invest, live and raise a family.
He says statistics however don’t tell the whole story about livable a community is, and a personal visit usually is the best way to judge a community.
Furness says once people see what Owen Sound is all about, that sells the community much better than a ranking in a business magazine.
In this years survey, Collingwood was ranked at number 83.
The best place to live in Canada according to the magazine was Ottawa, the worst place was Bay Roberts Newfoundland.
