It’s back to business for the Chi Cheemaun.
The Big Canoe is back to ferry people and vehicles between Tobermory and Manitoulan Island after its annual repositioning spring cruise from Owen Sound to the tip of the Bruce.
The good news for travellers is there is no fare increase to begin the 2010 sailing season.
The Owen Sound Transportation Company says however it monitor traffic levels and fuel prices throughout the season.
Lower than expected traffic levels and or a significant increase in fuel prices may require the company to implement an in-service fare increase during the sailing season.
Besides no fare increase, there is more good news for people operating smaller fuel efficient vehicles.
To save passengers money and the help the environment there is a 10% discount to small, fuel efficient vehicles.
A complete list of eligible vehicle models is available on their website at www.ontarioferries.com.
Beginning today, the Chi Cheemaun will operate with two round trips per day (three on Fridays and Holiday Mondays) during the spring and fall, and four round trips per day during the summer.
