The award-winning Saugeen Shores Relay for Life team continues to prepare for this year’s event.
Co-chair Rona Cobean says they are a bit behind last year’s numbers at this time but there’s no concern yet.
At last check, 17 teams had registered and over two thousand dollars had been raised on-line.
The group is aiming for 60 teams participating this year and some 200 thousand dollars being raised.
Cobean says the theme this year is “Canada and Community Proud.”
She says they’re playing on the success and pride of Canadians because of the Vancouver Olympics.
She says teams will be asked to decorate their campsites to that theme and dress to the theme as well.
Meanwhile, co-chair Trish Bernard says on May 29th, at the community room at Legault’s Independent Grocer, an information meeting on the Relay for Life will be held.
Everyone interested in forming a team or being part of a team should attend the meeting.
This year’s Relay for Life in Saugeen Shores will start Friday, July 9th at the track behind SDSS from 7 PM Friday to 7 AM Saturday.
