While they weren’t saying much at their annual meeting last month, members of the Simcoe Grey Conservative Riding Association have plenty to say in a long letter sent to the party leader, Stephen Harper.
In it, a list of complaints about how the saga surrounding Simcoe Grey MP Helena Guergis has been handled.
The Riding Association also complains of repeated interference, obstruction and gag orders by Conservative headquarters.
Most of the complaints centre around one Conservative official in particular, Colin McSweeney.
It is reportedly McSweeny who directed the association to restrict access to its annual general meeting on April 24th to members only, and who wrote a letter the executive claims was insulting after the riding vice president gave an interview to the Canadian Press.
McSweeny also brought with him to that annual meeting Dr. Kellie Leitch, a surgeon at the Hospital for Sick Children, who has reportedly applied for privileges at the hospital in Collingwood, and who is thought to be a possible “parachute candidate” for the seat.
Leitch reportedly has close ties to federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty.
Also in that letter, the Simcoe Grey riding executive demands to know whether Stephen Harper has decided to allow Helena Guergis to run for the party in the next election, and if not, why she hasn’t been told.
