The Federal Agriculture Committee is making a stop in Wiarton today as part of its nationwide tour into a new study on Young Farmers and the Future of Farming.
This is the first time the Federal Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-food has ever visited Grey-Bruce.
The Committee will hold public hearings Tuesdays morning, then tour the Baygrowers Co-Op in Meaford in the afternoon.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller is the chair of that Committee.
He says the half day public session is probably not long enough to hear of all the concerns from area farmers but it is the best the committee can do because of their tight schedule.
Miller says the committee specifically wants to hear from individuals and young farmers and is avoiding hearing from any of the organized farm groups.
The public hearings begin at 9 AM and continue until Noon at Waterview on the Bay Island View Drive.
