Ingrid Whyte — the Executive Director Coalition for Music Education in Canada — says at exactly 1 PM Eastern Time, everyone will belt out a performance of Serena Ryder’s song, Sing Sing.
She says this event is to remind students, teachers and parents how important music is to a persons education and how vital it is maintain strong music programs in the education system.
Whyte says young people get many benefits out of music programs like learning to work together in teams and learn new skills and develop an understanding of other cultures.
She also says music helps develop the brain and the skills needed to compete in the new world economy.
