Bolstering some testimony, tearing down some, too.
The businessman at the heart of the ongoing Guergis-Jaffer saga testified at a committee of the House of Commons on Wednesday and had plenty to say to M-P’s.
Nazim Gillani presented documents that suggest he had a contract with Jaffer’s company to help secure government funding.
The alleged contract says Jaffer’s company had “valuable connections” with the federal government.
Last week, Jaffer told the committee that talks with Gillani fell apart because their business goals didn’t jibe.
Jaffer, who is not a registered lobbyist, has also denied lobbying the government.
Gillani backed Jaffer’s claim that he doesn’t use drugs, saying he never saw him use cocaine.
He also says he and only met former junior cabinet minister Helena Guergis once, at a social engagement.
