There are two people running for Deputy Mayor in Saugeen Shores in the upcoming municipal election.
Current Deputy Mayor Doug Freiburger hopes to hold the same position again and filed his papers more than two weeks ago.
Freiburger feels there is much more to accomplish and celebrate within the municipality – and he wants to be a part of it.
He is excited about the opportunities available when it comes to tackling issues like improving upon the beaches and waterfront.
Freiburger says because of the growth of the municipality – the issue of parks has to be dealt with – along with any plans for a swimming facility.
Freiburger says he is proud to have spent another term as Deputy Mayor with such a great team.
Councillor Luke Charbonneau is also vying for the position.
The mayor, deputy mayor, vice-deputy mayor are elected at large while councillors are elected on a ward system in Saugeen Shores.
Residents have until September 10th to state their intentions to run; the election is Monday, October 25.
