It took some time and a lot of number crunching but Hanover has managed to set its 2010 budget.
The budget totals 19 million dollars — and includes a 1.2 per cent tax hike.
But once the Grey County and education levies are factored in — the tax increase only works out to a 0.4 per cent.
For a home assessed at 159 thousand dollars — that works out almost 9 dollars more on the tax bill.
Director of Corporate Services Christine Walker says the budget includes a heavy emphasis on infrastructure this year.
Just over 12 million of the 19 million dollar budget is slated for infrastructure projects.
Six million is being spent on the new P and H Centre.
Another 3.6 million will fund upgrades to the water treatment plant and 3.2 million will go towards the water and sewer line extension on the north west end of town.
Walker adds Hanover’s reserve fund remains healthy at around six million dollars.
Walker notes unlike some municipalities — Hanover did not lose any Ontario Municipal Partnership funding this year.
Walker admits the government grant made a difference in maintaining the tax level.
