The trial resumes this week for two Wingham-area residents charged with counselling and conspiracy to commit murder.
Monday got off to a slow start.
Serena Benninger and Anthony Terpstra are charged with counselling and conspiracy to commit kill Sheila Terpstra, Anthony’s wife.
Benninger’s defense lawyer Phil Cornish began his case by calling several female witnesses.
The justice sent the jury away several times while trying to figure out the relevence these women had to the case.
The jury heard from Shari Evans, a Brussels woman who is good friends with Anthony Terpstra and had a sexual relationship with him in 2006.
She testified that he also gave her 25-thousand dollars to help pay for her divorce but they are still just friends and have had no sexual relationship since that brief time in 2006.
The trial continues Tuesday.
