Week two of the murder-for-hire trial of two Wingham residents continues in Goderich Court this morning.
The crown wrapped its trial with Sheila Terpstra on the stand.
She’s the intended victim of the murder for hire plot that her husband Anthony Terpstra and co-accused Serena Benninger are charged with.
Details about the couples rocky marriage came to light on Friday.
Last week, jurors heard testimony from the man who introduced Benninger to the undercover officer who was posing as a hitman.
60-year-old Owen Curtis, also from the Wingham area, testified that Benninger offered him 10 thousand dollars to murder Sheila Terpstra.
Curtis said he always thought Anthony Terpstra was the one pulling the strings, although he never once had any dealings with him.
Serena Benningers daughter Charlene, former co-workers of Terpstra’s, Ted Gray and Lloyd Reaman also took the stand.
Reaman testified Anthony Terpstra asked him if he knew where to get a hitman.
The crown’s other witness was 41 year-old Angela Ventura, who’s Serena Benninger’s sister-in-law and intended victim Sheila Terpstra’s best friend.
The trial resumes this morning with the defence for Benninger, Phil Cormish, presenting his case for jurors.
