Grade One teacher Karen Harrington is sporting a very bold look these days.
She traded in her locks for a bright red Mohawk after students met her challenge and raised over five thousand dollars for London’s Children’s Hospital.
Harrington is a big supporter of the Hospital which played an instrumental role in the care and recovery of two of her daughters after a tree fell on them during a camping trip in 2004.
Harrington says she will be forever grateful to London’s Children’s Hospital for all they did for her children.
In the last six years under the leadership of Harrington, Holy Family students have raised over 25 thousand dollars for the Children’s Hospital.
Children’s Health Foundation Spokesperson Jill Osborne calls the students amazing.
The money raised will go towards a 200 thousand dollar fundraising project to purchase three ventilators for the pediatric critical care unit.
Grade 7 student Noah Bennett says it took a lot of guts for Harrington to do what she did.
As for Harrington it’s going to take quite a while for her hair to grow back but in the meantime she’ll concentrate on her daughters and how grateful she is to have them with her.
