Georgian College has been named one of Canada’s Greenest employers of 2010.
Editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers selected the College at Barrie, Owen Sound, Orillia and Midland because of it’s ongoing committment to being as green as possible.
Georgian President and CEO Brian Tamblyn announced the award as part of Earth Day celebrations at the Barrie campus today.
Manager of Corporate Communications Sharon Burkhart says it is the fourth year for the award, and the first time that Georgian has been selected.
Burkhart says the Green Employer award recognizes their efforts to engage students and staff on protecting the environment.
She says students are involved in clean-up activities at the four campuses today.
Events include tree plantings, and the launch of battery and small appliance recycling initiatives.
