The latest from the Rahim Jaffer/Helena Guergis saga is federal paperwork showing Jaffer’s consulting firm was looking for 100 million dollars in federal cash for an environmental project that was later also pushed by Guergis to Simcoe County Council.
Documents made public today say Jaffer’s business had submitted a funding proposal for a company called Green Rite Solutions, which was connected to Wright Tech Incorporated, the same company promoted by Guergis in a letter last summer.
Guergis has said she only sent the letter to Simcoe County officials after assuring herself that her husband was not connected to the firm she was promoting.
The Green Rite Solution proposal never made it as far as the bureaucrats deciding on projects in the department, nor did two other multimillion-dollar renewable-energy projects also submitted for consideration by Jaffer’s firm.
In testimony to the government operations committee on Wednesday, neither Jaffer nor his business partner could remember the names of the companies whose proposals they put forward.
