It’s National Volunteer Week and a call for new help is going out from many local organizations.
The Alzheimer Society of Grey Bruce is among those looking for more volunteers.
Volunteer Coordinator Susan Mogelin says they already have 450 names in their database – but they can always use more.
She says there are many different opportunities to put your skills to use within the Alzheimer Society, from day to day operations to special events.
And whether you want to volunteer regularly or once a year, they’ll find you something that suits you.
Mogelin says right now they are specifically looking for people to help out with Tag Days in May and June.
You can sign up for two hours to give away forget-me-not seeds in return for freewill donations at locations across Grey Bruce.
Mogelin says they also need Tag Day coordinators for Southampton, Wiarton, Markdale, and Kincardine.
Another opening is for Coffee Break Ambassadors for the Society’s major fundraiser in the fall.
Mogelin says without volunteers she doesn’t know if they could continue to provide the programs and services they offer to those in the region affected by Alzheimer’s.
Anyone interested in volunteering in any capacity should give the Alzheimer Society a call at 519-376-7230.
