Former MP Rahim Jaffer is prepared to appear before a Commons committee on Wednesday in an effort to clear the air around his environmental consulting business.
His business partner Patrick Glemaud says he and Jaffer are anxious to set the record straight on allegations of improper lobbying.
But whether the study by the government operations committee will actually get off the ground is an open question.
The NDP has withdrawn its support for the committee to study the government’s Green Infrastructure Fund and how project applications were selected.
There have been accusations that Jaffer — the husband of Simcoe Grey MP Helena Guergis — had been lobbying his former colleagues to support his company’s renewable energy projects.
Glemaud has insisted his company never lobbied any Conservative for any project.
