The President and CEO of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre is reacting to a recent report commissioned by the Friends of Kincardine Hospital.
Consultant Harold Schroeder tabled his report surrounding various issues pertaining to the SBGHC Board last month to the public.
The underlining message was that the board needs to be more transparent.
Paul Davies was not at the meeting and says they have yet to discuss the report with FOKH.
He has heard there are recommendations consistent with new Ontario Hospital Association created in January – including going to a skills based board and looking at the size of the board.
The report called for Davies to be stripped of any voting powers, but he says there is a legal issue in that case – as it’s law for the CEO to be on the board.
Davies also says he never uses his voting power anyway.
Davies also takes exception to the term “old boys club” used to describe the way some felt about the current members.
He says if that’s true – all elected parties can be considered as much – since the board is elected and not appointed.
Davies believes a request to meet with the FOKH will come to board at the next meeting – April 28th.
