If you watch the Juno Awards tonight – and have been to the Kincardine Summer Music Festival in the past, some of the nominees may seem familiar.
Eight former KSMF performers, teachers and students are up for awards in various categories.
They include…
Carol Welsman, a jazz pianist, vocalist and composer for “I Like Men” ; Jazz Vocal Album of the year.
Hilario Duran Trio’s “Motion” for Contemporary Jazz Album of the year.
Digging Roots’ “We Are” for Aboriginal Album of the year.
Madison Violet’s “No Fool For Trying” for the Roots and Traditional Album of the year.
Carlos del Junoc’s “Steady Movin’” and Downchild’s “I Need a Hat” are both up for Blues Album of the year.
“Regeneration” for Traditional Jazz Album of the year with Al Henderson, Alex Dean and Pat Labarbera.
“Selections with Thomas Beard” is up for the Classical Album of the Year.
The Junos will be handed out tonight following a week of concerts and songwriting circles.
The broadcast live from St. John’s on C-T-V will include performances by Michael Buble, Billy Talent and Blue Rodeo.
