The details getting more grim as the allegations against Simcoe Grey MP Helena Guergis continue to pile up.
The ‘third party’ information that led to the outster of Guergis from the Conservative caucus is about cocaine use, according to CTV.
The network now says private eye Derek Snowdy claims a seedy associate of Guergis’ husband has been boasting about having cellphone camera images of Guergis and Rahim Jaffer partying with cocaine and hookers.
The network adds there is no confirmation that Nazim Gillani made those comments or has such photos, only that the private eye says he boasted about it.
Snowdy told C-T-V he took the information to a Conservative party lawyer because he was worried about the risk of blackmail.
The Prime Minister, Stephen Harper has been tight-lipped about the specifics of the allegations he received, although yesterday he said it concerned the former cabinet minister’s “comportment.”
Yesterday Guergis called an earlier C-T-V reference to drug use a case of rumours gone amok.
When asked about the latest story, Guergis’s lawyer Howard Rubel said he would not respond to “rumours” or “gossip.”
Meantime, the Guergis/Jaffer case is causing ripples between other organizations.
Yesterday, Premier Dalton McGuinty said he was sure the OPP has learned from any mistakes made in the arrest and investigation of Jaffer last September.
This morning, the head of the OPP defending his officers in Caledon.
Julian Fantino says he’s confident officers conducted a thorough and detailed investigation in this case and obtained the necessary grounds to lay the charges of cocaine possession and drunk driving- charges that were later dropped in a plea bargain deal.
