The banners are coming back to Owen Sound.
The 2nd annual Owen Sound Art banner project is well underway with the deadline for art submissions today.
Committee Representative Kate McClaren says last years response was great and they have lots of support for a return on the colourful banners.
McClaren says they are looking for pictures of ANY median of artwork to be featured on the 48 banners that will be hung along 2nd Ave in the downtown core starting on May 16th.
McClaren says the idea comes from the want to foster more artisans and feature their work in all of Grey and Bruce.
She adds artists know their own work the best and they should take VERTICAL pictures of their work to be submitted through j-peg or can be submitted by disc.
McClaren said she expects competition to be fierce this year as there are so many artisans in the area.
Artists of ANY media are welcomed as last year the banners featured pictures of silk art – woodworking and even jewellery.
She reassures the artists name will go on the banner as well as the name of the piece.
Sponsorship is 100-dollars a banner and the sponsor will own the banner at the end of the year – when it is taken down at the end of the year it is yours to take home.
McClaren says the deadline is very strict for submissions and she encourages all to apply to have their artwork featured as they only have one month to go from jury to hanging the banners.
Submissions can be emailed to info@bannercommittee.ca
