Saugeen Shores police officers have a three-year contract with the town that will give them a 9 per cent raise over the life of the contract.
Chair of the Saugeen Shores Police Services board Doug Freiburger tells Bayshore Broadcasting News, the board formally ratified the deal late yesterday .
Freiburger says the agreement, which is retroactive to January of this year, will provide a 1.5 per cent increase in wages in January and a further 1.5 per cent increase in July in each of the three years.
Freiburger says there was some give and take with some of the benefits between the board and the police association.
He says he’s happy with the agreement.
Freiburger says he believes Saugeen Shores is getting the best police service compared to any of the forces in the region and is pleased with the contract.
Police were originally after a one year contract only.
There are just over 20 members of the Saugeen Shores police service.
