South Bruce Council is accepting the 2010 budget into by-law form tonight.
Deputy Mayor Carl Zettel says this year – while it’s been a challenge – residents will experience a zero per cent tax increase.
Zettel says they managed to cover a 205 thousand dollar shortfall – following a drop in provincial funding, an increase in the police budget and a drop in the interest earned on reserves.
The largest challenge came from an automatic 170 thousand drop in Ontario Municipal Partnership Funding.
He says though recently re-assessed homes through MPAC will face increases as per that corporation.
Zettel says they trimmed from each department – are not laying staff off and are not reducing services.
