The Opposition is demanding answers from the Conservative government in the House of Commons about the allegations against ousted former cabinet minister Helena Guergis.
When pressed, Transport Minister John Baird would only say that the allegations were made by a third party.
He also told the commons that the accusations against Guergis are in the hands of police and the ethics commissioner, and added that Prime Minister Stephen Harper acted quickly when he learned of the allegations.
Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff doesn’t believe the government’s claim that former Tory MP Rahim Jaffer had no entre to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Guergis, who has been reduced to independent status as the RCMP investigate, wasn’t in attendance today.
She was ousted from both the Conservative cabinet and caucus last Friday.
And Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson is also confirming that she is reviewing a letter from the prime minister about Guergis’s conduct.
