Construction is moving along on Collingwood’s downtown revitalization.
Jeffery Shearer, the head of Collingwood’s BIA, says that work is already ahead of schedule, even though construction just started last week.
He says there is even the possibility that the fences downtown may be taken down by the end of May, instead of June.
Shearer says that’s because the sidewalk paving can be done in a small area, so while workers finish them, the rest of the street can be open.
He says one of the reasons why work is moving so fast is because the crews are working very smoothly together, and Shearer jokes that they got some practice last fall.
He says the one problem is convincing people that there isn’t much disruption downtown, and tells us that the BIA is trying to get that message out to residents in Collingwood.
Shearer says that the bottom line is that by this fall, the only thing people will see is a beautiful downtown, and no one will remember the construction.
