Good news when it comes to staff and service within the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
There will be no cutbacks in those areas as officials grapple with a lower than expected funding increase from the province.
It was announced last month that hospitals in Ontario will receive a 1.5 per cent increase in funding.
SBGHC President and CEO Paul Davies says they were asked by the Ontario Hospital Association (earlier in the year) to prepare a budget working with a two per cent increase.
He says now – that means they have to find about 200 thousand dollars in savings in order to balance their forty million dollar budget.
Davies says they’ll find savings where possible and ensure patients are not in the hospital longer than need be.
He says he is not shocked by this news – but disappointed that they are dealing with point five per cent less than they had hoped for.
