There has been many maple syrup festivals that have run as of late – but now the Kemble United Church is hosting their owen Maple Syrup Tour today.
Pastor Deborah Murray says there is a big difference between a festival and a tour.
Murray says this tour will feature five area Maple Syrup producers and participants will actually visit their farm and see first hand how sap turns to syrup.
Murray says all five farms are very different – from the “mom and pop” operative to a major producer that bottles gallons of the sweet stuff.
She adds the organizing committee decided to go with this first ever tour as they recognized we live in the heart of some of the best maple syrup producing area in the province.
Murray says this tour will not only be fun but very educational.
The tour begins at 10 AM and runs until 4 PM throughout the Kemble area.
Murray says it is a tour at your leisure and people can spend as long as they like at each operation.
Passports are available the day of the tour at the United Church and include lunch served at the church which is a 100 mile meal with all locally produced food and – of course – syrup.
Murray reassures that even with the slow to the maple syrup production because of the weather – although the sap has stopped running – the syrup will still be produced the day of the tour.
