Port Elgin Pumpkinfest has received 65 thousand dollars in funding from the provincial government.
The money will be used to introduce new activities for the event.
With the support of the Ontario government, the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce plans to enhance its programs and activities for the 24th annual Pumpkinfest.
Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell was on hand Thursday to announce the funding and encouraged the Chamber to invite the Minister of Tourism and Culture Michael Chan to the event.
Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce General Manager Joanne Robbins says the investment came at the perfect time.
Among the events planned include a challenge the pros contest which will give the public a chance to compete in various mini games against the pros chosen by organizers.
