Real Estate sales have been booming in the Grey Bruce area for the last few months — and February was no exception.
In fact, there were 148 housing units sold in February — which is up 64 per cent from the sales pace set a year ago.
The average price for a home in Grey or Bruce counties came in at just over 216 thousand dollars, which is up 19 per cent from February of 2009.
The new average price is also the second highest on record for the area.
President of the Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound, Karen Cox, says the total dollar value for properties sold in February was 32 million dollars — or double the level in 2009.
She says several factors are pushing the market, low interest rates, the looming HST on new home sales and a pent up demand from 2009 when many buyers decided to sit on the side-lines and wait.
