The Emergency Room at the Southampton Hospital will remain open for at least another two months.
An further extension to an agreement with Health Force Ontario has been granted.
It was to end March 31st – which put the state of the department in question as of April first.
But there are no concerns for now — since doctors from other areas will continue to help cover of E-R shifts until the end of May.
Grey Bruce Health Services President and CEO Maureen Solecki says the Southwest Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) will develop a process to explore creating a long range plan for the hospital.
Solecki says the LHIN and hospital will involve key stakeholders in the community in any talks and decisions.
She says everyone is committed to making sure the needs of the community are met.
In the meantime, there is no need for concern about not having an open ER at the Southampton hospital for the next two months.
