It appears West Grey ratepayers will see a small increase on their tax bill.
Council continues to work on its budget for 2010 and as it stands now — the proposed municipal tax hike is 2.75 per cent.
But combined with the County rate — and taxes would increase about 1.6 per cent.
As part of the budget deliberations — West Grey Council is figuring out how best to pay for the erosion work on the Saugeen River.
The 2.4 million dollar project was done two years ago to shore up the Neustadt Sewage Lagoon.
The municipal portion of the bill totals 265 thousand dollars.
Mayor Kevin Eccles says they will cover the cost either through reserves or debentures over the next four years.
Eccles notes the erosion work has stood up very well and there have been no problems since.
West Grey Council will meet again on April 21st to review the budget.
The budget budget is set to be passed on May 1st.
