The line-up for the 35th anniversary Summerfolk Music and Craft festival has been announced.
Artistic Director Richard Knechtel announced the extensive line up during Saturday night’s ‘Last Chance Saloon’ event in Owen Sound.
Heading up the list of talented singers and songwriters will be Influential Canadian songstress Sara Harmer who Knechtel describes as the person who writes the songs everyone else wants to sing.
Lennie Gallant, one of Canada’s foremost performing songwriters will be coming from PEI to grace the Summerfolk stage this August 20th to the 22nd.
Knechtel says one of the acts sure to capture the imagine of the Summerfolk audience will be a three sister group from Sweden called Baskery who he says sing in great harmony and sound a lot like the Dixie Chicks.
Knechtel says besides the traditional folk entertainers, there will be some interesting world entertainers as well including a group called Namgar, who perform Siberian-Mongolian Folk Rock.
From BC comes a group that Knechtel says really will grab everyone’s attention.
They are called Delhi2Dublin and specialize in something Knechtel calls Celtic Punjabi Electro Acoustic music.
And from South America, comes Eco Andino, a group that will deliver the Music of the Andes to the audience in Kelso Beach Park.
One of the big hits from last year’s Summerfolk — the Celtic band Poor Angus — returns to the festival again this year.
Away from the main stage, Knechtel says the artisans village will return once again as will the ever popular food fair where he says the preparation of local food is an art form in itself.
