Collingwood’s water and wastewater user fees seem to be doing the trick.
A consultant has reported to Council that recovering money through the user fees to pay for infrastructure will make it sustainable in less than ten years.
The report does recommend increasing water rates this year by 2.5 percent which is about 20 dollars on average and up by 2 percent in 2011.
Wastewater rates would be increased by 2.5 percent in 2010 and 4 percent in 2011.
Council is expected to consider the report next week.
