A sign of spring, hope and the Cancer Society is arriving in Grey Bruce.
Starting today and until March 28th — volunteers for the Canadian Cancer Society will be in area locations throughout Grey Bruce selling daffodils.
Jennifer Wright Fundraising Coordinator Bluewater Unit Canadian Cancer Society says the daffodils are a sure sign of spring and hope.
Wright says sale of the flowers are a major fundraiser for the cancer society and go towards funding of many things.
Wright says some of the funds go towards the transportation program where 131 volunteer drivers from the area last year alone drove patients to over 45-hundred cancer related appointments.
The money also goes towards the peer support program and research funding.
Wright adds the sale last year in Canada raised 2.9 million dollars and in Grey Bruce 190-thousand dollars was raised.
Wright says of course the goal is to beat all the numbers this year.
Daffodils are one bunch for 7 dollars — 2 bunches for 12 dollars.
As well silk daffodil lapel pins are being sold for 4 dollars each.
