It will likely be several months before Hydro One will know whether or not it has permission to begin expropriation proceedings against some landowners along the proposed Bruce to Milton high voltage transmission line.
Hydro One spokesperson Danielle Gauvin says they made their application to the Ontario Energy Board last month and the process now calls for Hydro to again formally in writing inform the affected landowners.
Once the OEB has confirmation that the landowners have been notified, then a review will be conducted which could include public meetings.
Following that, a decision will be made by the OEB as to whether or not Hydro One can proceed.
Gauvin says the timing is up to the energy board but it could take several months.
Meanwhile, work on the 635 million dollar project will get underway this month.
Gauvin says workers will start some brush clearing on the right of ways and properties that already have a deal with Hydro.
However, actual construction work on the transmission line at the Bruce end won’t start until May.
Gauvin says it now appears less than 100 property owners will be involved in expropriation hearings, should they be approved.
350 landowners will be affected by the transmission line from Bruce Power to Milton.
