There will not be a meeting at the end of this month discussing the expansion of the medical clinic in Chesley; it’s been postponed.
Arran Elderslie Mayor Ron Oswald says not having plans to show was the reason for the move.
Oswald confirms plans are no longer calling for a basement, but could still include an elevator since a second story is likely.
Oswald says an additional cost of six hundred thousand dollars and water issues were the reasons for scrapping the idea of a basement.
An elevator does not have to be built right away, saving money initially, and can be added later.
He says they are now waiting for new design plans to enlarge the existing 2,983 square foot clinic.
When those are complete and a cost analysis is done, the community will be invited to see plans.
The meeting was set for March 30th, and no new date has been set yet.
The Chesley Hospital Foundation announced in January it was pledging four hundred thousand dollars toward the estimated 1.6 million dollar cost.
So far $264,500 has been raised in the community.
