The Durham Arena is receiving a funding boost.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation has awarded the facility with 50 thousand dollars.
Ontario Trillium Foundation representative Liz Chalmers and Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch delivered the cheque on Friday.
The money will see the east wall of the arena insulated and re-sided, with automatic ventilation louvers installed.
The improvements will make the facility more energy efficient.
Murdoch says upwards of 700 thousand dollars in renovations are being done at the Durham Arena and this funding will help see the project is successful.
He says back when this facility was built there wasn’t a lot of insulation installed.
Murdoch says the grant money will provide an improved facility for the entire community to enjoy.
West Grey Councillor Carol Lawrence says with the economic downturn she’s very happy to see the investment of much needed capital in the community.
