The 11th annual Saugeen First Nation Youth Pow Wow is about to unfold.
First Nation spokesperson Nicholas Roote says the event is day-long affair celebrating the youth of Saugeen First Nation with music and dance.
Roote says the Pow Wow is put together by youth to highlight the talents of youth.
He says the event is free to everyone although a donation is welcomed.
Roote says it’s important that the cultures of the First Nations and the surrounding communities come together so that children can learn the cultures.
Things get underway at 12 Noon Saturday at the James Mason Memorial Centre with the Grand Entry followed by music, dancing and games for children.
The traditional feast is around 5 PM.
The Pow Wow was originally a Spring event to celebrate the seasonal renewal of new life and is still very much a part of the lives of many First Nations peoples around the country.
