Dundalk is in the home stretch for installing water metres.
Southgate CAO Dave Milliner says they’ve only got a couple of homes and less than 30 commercial properties left to hook up.
He says once that’s complete — they hope to gear up for a sample bill for residents in July so they can compare their old bill with their new bill and see the difference.
Milliner says its mainly retailers who are looking for more fairness when it comes to water consumption.
He says some who simply have one washroom are getting charged the same as those using a fair bit of water.
Factories and larger industrial properties are already on water metres.
Milliner says some customers’ bills will go up — but he notes some will go down.
Currently homeowners pay 56 dollars a month for water and sewers in Dundalk.
