Three Owen Sound police officers will be off duty for at least a week after being injured while trying to arrest a man on the weekend.
It happened early Sunday morning at a townhouse unit as a woman went to the police station to help get her ex-boyfriend out of her home.
When officers arrived — police say the man was on the second floor landing, taunting officers to come and get him.
As one officer peered around the corner — he was hit in the head with a glass bottle and needed eight staples to close two different lacerations.
Police say the suspect also swung a hammer at the head of a second officer.
All three officers chased the suspect into the muddy backyard and eventually arrested the man.
But in the struggle — the second officer injured his right hand and the third officer twisted his knee.
A 36 year old unidentified man faces a total of 16 charges — including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest and possession of a dangerous weapon.
