After a year and a half vacancy — Hanover has filled its Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture.
After 18 years as Hanover’s Program Manager — Sherri Walden has been promoted to the Director of Parks Recreation and Culture.
Walden calls the promotion exciting and says she looks forward to serving the town in this new capacity.
As a department head, Walden says she will now look at the big picture and take into account all of the facets of the parks and recreation department.
Walden counts herself as fortunate to work in Hanover where Parks, Recreation and Culture take such a prominent role in the community.
She says Hanover has an excellent Parks and Rec department and compares it to many larger urban centres.
The Parks Recreation and Culture Director position had been vacant ever since past director Mike Dunlop was promoted to town CAO.
In 2008 Walden was appointed Manager of Programs and Administration on an interim bases.
During that time — CAO Mike Dunlop says Walden proved herself ready for the job through her knowledge, skills and leadership abilities.
