Theatre lovers — this is the week to be in Owen Sound.
Owen Sound Little Theatre is hosting the Western Ontario Theatre Festival for 2010.
The week long event takes place from March 15th through to the 20th at the Roxy Theatre.
One of the organizers, John Prettie, says it is quite an honour to host the event again — the first being in 2006.
The group has been chosen over major hubs like Sarnia and London.
Prettie says five plays that have already gone through some form of adjudication will perform at the event over the five days.
The plays are judged from the moment the set is taken off the truck — to the set up process to when the play takes to the stage.
Prettie says its amazing as the crew only has the day to set up — complete a dress rehearsal and then perform the play that night.
Prettie says the economic spinoff from the five day event is impressive for the city.
He adds the hotels, restaurants and city on the whole will benefit from the festival.
Theatre groups from all over Southwestern Ontario are part of the Western Ontario Theatre Group.
In the past the festival has hosted musicals, serious dramas and comedies.
Prettie says tickets are now available at the Roxy Box Office for 20 dollars each.
