Watch out for organizations that exist – but are not fundraising in your community.
Saugeen Shores Police say they received a complaint recently that a call was made on behalf of an organization called Cops For Kids Safety asking for financial donations.
Chief Dan Rivett says the organization is one from Western Canada and is not canvassing on behalf of them, as claimed in the call.
Rivett says if you are contacted by this organization, hang up and let police know about the call.
He says they are not currently canvassing for money of any kind right now, and would identify themselves if they were.
Rivett recommends if you are unsure of the call – to ask for a contact name and phone number so you can check into the organization.
